I don't think you read the article IHR. They've fucked over RUSH again. :x

Rush is Rock-n-Roll, no doubt about it, some others already in, uh not so much.  In my mind being Canadian doesn't matter one bit. Rush is pure Rock-n-Roll and only an idiot would think otherwise.

Yes, they fucked them over, Again!  To quote the article "It makes no friggin' sense, especially when you look at some of the artists that did make it onto the list of potential inductees for next year: Laura Nyro. The Spinners. Eric B. & Rakim. Donna freakin' Summer?" WTF!!!
But I really loved the awesome live version of Spirit of Radio.

Well, call me a dumbass. I was in a hurry and just read the header and not the article. Didn't notice that important last word.
What a crock!!! Disco shit gets nominated and not Rush??? That doesn't even make sense. There's been and all day special about them on VH1 Classic today.

But I really loved the awesome live version of Spirit of Radio.

Especially loved the rockin intro, the Stones Paint It Black!  That was from the Sarstock concert that the Stones headlined.  I'd like RUSH if they played more Stones songs!

I am a later bloomer RUSH fan. It is not my fault. The music the band was putting out when I was an impressionable teen with disposable income for cassettes was (IMO) NOT their best stuff. I am not big on the syntho-pop stuff. However, when I was around 18, I started hanging around with people a good 7+ years OLDER then me. Then I heard some stuff that I liked, but I was SO burned out on the local radio stations playing "Tom Sawyer" that I started to loathe the song!

Flash forward a few years...I start to learn about the HISTORY of the band...about the members themeselves and I start really reading the lyrics to the songs. Then I was intrigued. The more I saw, read and heard, the more I liked. Trust me, it took YEARS to live it down. I used to be anti-RUSH and I still catch flack sometimes if I say anything pro-RUSH. "Oh, you used to haaaaate RUSH...."  Okay, I guess people can't change their opinion.  :flipoff:

Anyway....

True story.

Geeky cool moment of the year! In line at the ATM machine, window rolled down. Car in front of me has a RUSH bumper sticker. Cool, me too. Just then, "Subdivisions" comes on the radio. I turn it up and turn into the female version of Neil Peart. I frantically see the guy in front of me fumbling with his radio & give me a thumbs up. He rolls down his window too. Then I catch the guy behind me in my review mirror. He too is jamming out to RUSH. The three of us sat in the ATM line until the song was over. Respect.  8)

I've been a Rush fan since Hemispheres. Took me 2 listens to Moving Pictures to like it. It was the same thing with Trailer Park Boys. You don't catch the nuances the first listen/watch.

I've loved them since Farewell to Kings. Geddy is the reason I started playing bass.

Rush isn't in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame? Fuck those guys are stupid. And here I stopped hating them after they finally let the Stooges in...

A fuckin' great concert right here:

http://bigozine2.com/roio/?p=1009

Get it while it's out there.

The Spirit of Radio just about melted my ears off.

Live at The Arena, St Louis, Missouri; November 7, 1991.  Excellent soundboard.

I looked in the mirror today
My eyes just didn't seem so bright
I've lost a few more hairs
I think I'm..  I'm going bald

I think I'm going bald

Seems like only yesterday
We would sit and talk of dreams all night
Dreams of youth
And simple truths
Now we're all so involved
So involved with life

I Walk down vanity fair
Memory lane everywhere
Wall Street shuffles there
Dressed in flowing hair

Once we loved the flowers
Now we ask the price of the land
Once we would take water
But now it must be wine
Now we've been
And now we've seen
What price peace of mind

Take a piece of my mind

My life is slipping away
I'm aging every day
But even when I'm grey
I'll still be grey my way,  yea   :beermug: :6paper: :gocanada:

This pic displays the era of Rush that I remember as the greatest. Just between 2112 and All The World's A Stage. Now if you'll excuse me I'll retreat back into that time with a first pressing vinyl of 2112, King Bong and his buddy bigbud and a Tab. Get ready Galloway, Ohio. By the time this record side is done, I will have assumed control....

I went back to the FB page where the original roadies of Rush were discussing the pic. If you are a Rush geekfreak like I am, this is like one of the coolest things that you'd never thought you'd get to see/read. If you are not you must think I'm a douche.  :D

When the pic page opens, be sure to click it to size it upwards.
