I have some Rush gems to share from my ridiculous collection.

First a picture of Alex I took in 1978 and had him sign in '79 of him choking himself.

Second; a live portrait I shot in '77 at the Capital Centre, Largo Md.

And for the piece de resistance; I am one of the two possessors of this pic that was taken in the first months when Neil joined the band and they were opening for Rare Earth at a Cleveland recreation park. A friend who was Rare Earth's manager at the time took a roll of film of this unknown band. He recently found the old roll of film and sent me digital copies. An awesome find that is freaking me the fuck out. They were black and white and I colorized them as well as I could. Here is one of the best shots of the entire band.

Thanks, yeah I've been a lucky muv to have had some strange and awesome behind-the-scenes Rush adventures beginning in the late 70s. Especially for an Amernican.  :D

Maybe if I get really old man-like I'll write out a few of them. "Gather 'round kiddies, while ol' uncle Golfin' tells amazing tales of...Hey! Where's everybody goin'?"

Here's some cool news I found on Blabbermouth.net:

'RushCon/Force/10' Convention For RUSH Fans To Celebrate 10-Year Anniversary - May 26, 2010

RushCon/Force/10, a weekend-long convention for fans of the iconic Canadian rock band RUSH, will celebrate its 10-year anniversary by holding two conventions in both Toronto and Las Vegas.

Both conventions have been timed to coincide with RUSH's "Time Machine" tour dates in each city. Toronto's convention will take place July 16-18, 2010 at the Courtyard by Marriott in Downtown Toronto, Ontario. Las Vegas' "Mini-RushCon" will be held August 14, 2010 at Hooters Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

RushCon/Force/10 RushCon offers fans the unique opportunity to involve themselves in all aspects of RUSH's music and decades-long career. Events will include games, contests, trivia, vendors with rare and collectible merchandise, guest speakers, charity "RUSH memorabilia" auction, exclusive tour of Anthem Records (Toronto only), group trips to shows and more. Special guests include an exclusive performance by singer-songwriter Jacob Moon, a revealing and insightful presentation by long-time RUSH crew member Tony "Jack Secret" Geranios and a panel discussion by media-historian and discoverer of RUSH, Donna Halper.

Locations: RushCon Toronto will take place at the Courtyard by Marriott at 475 Yonge, Toronto. Special convention rate for RushCon attendees is available on first-come first serve basis. Book directly with the hotel (800) 847-5075 using the code "RushCon" to get the discounted rate.

Las Vegas is a one-day only event, to be held at Hooters Casino at 115 E Tropicana, Las Vegas. Hooters is a short walk from the MGM so attendees can get to that night's RUSH concert in a matter of minutes. While a group rate is not available for this event, traveling fans can contact Hooters directly for room reservations at (866) LVHOOTS.

Ticket packages, day passes and their prices are outlined at the official RushCon web site at www.rushcon.org. Attendees are encouraged to join the mailing list and/or check back periodically for details and updates regarding all convention events.

I put together a video of Rush, using a bunch of vintage pics, Closer To The Heart, and Windows Movie Maker. If you'd like to check it out you can go to my Facebook page - Search John Boyd, choose the one with the long hair, green shirt. Columbus, Ohio.
Or check it on Youtube -

My bro-in-law has an extra ticket to see Rush tonight. A nice surprise on a cold rainy day! They are playing in the Penguins new arena, first chance to check that out. :D

You know what Fishy? I'd have to think about that. I did find out while watching their new documentary that I was at their first US show in 1974. I don't remember much if anything of rush at that show although I do remember a bit of Manfred Mann and Uriah Heep. Being the opening band they probably played two or three songs and working man and were off. Looking forward to tonite though.

Fantastic set list. I'm a bit partial toward set two but your heart must have been pounding in your chest when Alex started Spirit of Radio at the beginning of the show.
Glad you enjoyed it and have fun (again) on Sunday night. 8)

Nice to see J.D. Roberts doing the interview and the 1981 Much Music clip of J.D. and Geddy. Too bad CNN doesn't check proper spelling. Base player? Try Bass

It was nice to see Neil being a part of it too. He doesn't do that very often.

P.S. When we saw RUSH for the second time last Sunday in Dallas, Neil performed a different drum solo than the one we'd seen in Tulsa. Yay!

RUSH!  :peace: :rimshot: :punkrock:

The band is recording this performance for a DVD release.  :drunk:

I am thinking I will need to flash my boobies to get on camera. Perhaps I will write a message to the .Org on them.  :boobies:

Tomorrow is game one of the AHL playoffs, followed by game two on Sunday.  :check:

Now, if only I wasn't broke, life would be DECENT! Thank goodness I got all these tickets waaaaaay ahead of time.

Just wanted to share my joy.  8)
